The Atkinson is Sefton Council’s flagship arts and cultural venue set in a grade II listed building in the centre of Lord Street. The recent £17 million development involved the integration of four Arts & Cultural managed venues, Southport Arts Centre the Atkinson Art Gallery, Botanic Gardens Museum and the Southport Library, into one regional cultural centre.
The Atkinson delivers high quality arts and cultural entertainment from dance and drama to fine art and music and can cater for all types of events and activities from conferences, gigs, lectures, launches, productions, meetings and more. It has a 420 capacity proscenium theatre and a flexible studio with a capacity of up to 300 (both with state of-the-art projection systems) alongside a number of workshop spaces, visual art galleries and much more. They can provide refreshments and catering from The Bakery, technical equipment, staff and room set-ups as required.
